How low should I go?

I would like a lower stance but still have some ground clearance to clear speed bumps and potholes. What drop am I looking at?

I just did a 3/4 drop with cut front springs and new rear coils. I'm waiting on my new urethane bushings to see how low the sway bar will be using stock brackets. I may have to grind off stock rivets and modify. My rear shifted 1/4" to the right.

Did you install an adjustable panhard bar? That will fix your problem out back.

I just did a 4/6 which I thought I would be happy with, but now I want it lower. I would go 5/7 with coils and spindles or get er bagged

4/6 is totally driveable. Just get the exhaust tucked up.

See. I just love those shots of your truck. Smooth ride there bud. I think I am convinced to go with the truck ralleys on my 69. Oh and I dig spinners too. Have them on my 88 GMC with Outlaw ll wheels.
You must have the bump stops removed from the rear? No bottoming at all with the 6" rear drop? 4" spring and 2" blocks?

We have potholes here I had a NBS w 4/6 and had a map of every pothole bump and noise it will produce. Also ripping off the front air dam 3 times is not something I want to deal with every day right now. I will give more thought to the bag thing after I retire it from daily driver duties.

Thanks for the compliment. I like the rally wheels but they are on their way out. I am shopping for some 17" rims, something retro, but I haven't nailed it down just yet. There are no bumpstops in the back. It is an ECE 6" drop spring in the back. I haven't been able to make it bottom out with it empty but I think with a load in it she would hit.

3/4 is going to give you a lot of rake which is fine if that's what you are wanting. Check out www.earlyclassic.com for some more stance photos. If you are going 3" in the front you probably want 5" in the rear. The drop I run is very doable for a daily driver. I drive it to work, my wife drives it to work and to college. Yeah it's low for a truck but it is still higher up off the ground than most cars. Get your exhaust tucked up tight and you shouldn't have any trouble cruisin it anywhere.

I agree with the 4/6 I only drag my pipes because I havent got them tucked in the frame rails yet, bumpstops from rear have been removed and I haul 4 wheeler and couple of other heavy loads no bottomin out. I drive it everyday, no problems other than pipes.

I too have been searching for 17" rims that will have the retro look but look bit--ing on my truck. Mine is a long box and I'm gonna drop her 3 1/2 in the front ( 2 1/2 ropped spindle and 1" dropped coil ) and 5" in the rear with the adjustable panhard bar & shock relocators.. Back to the point of 17" wheels. Have you looked at American Racing's 200S series wheel. They are of the style that were prevelent in the 60's and 70's..

I don't personaly care for the 200s wheels. I had thought about the ansen sprint slots, but the dish just doesn't seem right. I like the Torque thrust II but I think they are a little overused. I thought about doing them in chrome since it doesn't seem like they show up much. I have also thought about going with the torque thrust original (light gray center). Right now I am leaning toward the Wheel Vintiques Cruzer. It is a forged wheel which as we know is stronger than steel but lighter than a cast wheel. I have forged Mickey Thompson Challenger wheels on my K10 and they seem to hold a shine much better than the cast wheels on our Jeep.

Sorry SEE10, I didnt realize you had a 4x4 with big boots. I dont think the 200's would look good on your truck with the way you have your truck set up.

Your making me want a 4/6 now. I was planning on ordering the drop/disk conversion from GMC Pauls next weekend.
as for rims these in 20's



or the 17 escalades which ever I can fit in my buget.
Maby I'll just get the 2 in drop springs and have them throw in the 5 in drop springs instead?
