power windows and locks

I got a set of power doors for my '86 GMC, supposedly off of a 91 suburban. But I need to hook up some power to them. Is there anything special I need to know before I try and do this? I'm assuming all it needs is power and ground or is there more to it?

Re: power windows and locks

I put '90 burb doors on my truck last year before it was painted. The burb had PW and PL my truck didn't have either. It was easy. you need the hole pw/pl wiring harness out of the donor burb. Don't forget the relay under the dash. Also, don't forget to the rubber boots for the door to cab wiring. Will also need a whole saw to cut the cab for the wiring acess. feel free to PM if you have anymore questions.

Re: power windows and locks

I got the doors from a salvage yard. So they cut the wires off that stick out of the doors and thats what i've got.
What realy will I need? I have everything inside the doors so i need anything outside essentially.

Re: power windows and locks

I would go back to the yard and get the rest. The only thing in the PW/PL wiring harness that you won't need is the stuff for the rear doors. The relay is for the PL and it is located in the middle of the firewall about half way up the dash from the inside of the cab. make sure you grab the bracket and not just the relay. You might want to find a burb that still has the doors on it and take the wiring harness out yourself this time.
