more camaro tach questions

ok guys, i printed out the instructions for the camaro tach install and worked on it today. i have a few follow up questions for those that have done this swap. first off... how are you guys securing the tach to the gauge housing? here are the parts i am working with...

i's post them in the message, but on this crap PC, i dont know how... i'm a Mac guy!

with the hole cut in the backing plate, i seemed to have to secure the tach via the 3 studs coming off the back of the "stem", the fat silver piece on the back of the tach. i insulated these connections with the black plastic piece off the camaro and part of a CD case. no metal touching anything. but this leaves two connections for the circuit board unaccounted for. i see some of you are mounting it in the unused vaccum spot. any metal to metal contact issues there? are you running wires from the studs to the circuit board? next the biggie... my printed circuit is tight. too tight for the protruding studs to be comfortable. i chopped them a little, enough that it's "almost" acceptable. i need to replace a few parts anyway, the board has a fried circuit, i screwed up the plastic face plate trying to polish off the tach lines, and my bezel is pretty crappy. will a different printed circuit provide some "wiggle" room? a factory tach printed circuit? a normal P.C.?

this part in the instructions has me confused, also. posted by 67ChevyC10Stepside "the next step is the lens. i used cp and some scrubbing to remove the lines shown in red here." what is the cp mentioned? what does that stand for or mean? i used lacquer thinner with OK results, but my polishing dremel adventure necessitates a new clear guage face, and i want to do it right with the new parts.

so, can anyone help a guy out with a few clarifications?

Re: more camaro tach questions

I haven't done mine yet but have you read this post? It seems to address your questions.

Re: more camaro tach questions

I started on the tach project last night, with all the FAQ's printed out. I agree with 724wdcopper, the instructions could use another picture to show wiring from the tach terminals to the circuit board terminals. I guess I am supposed to run jumper wires from the 3 terminals on the tach to the remote mounted circuit board, and then wire the circuit board to dist/bat/gnd?

On the lens cleaning, I had no luck whatsoever with Goo Gone. It smelled nice while I rubbed like mad for 20 minutes, nothing happening. Turtle Wax Polishing Compound got it all off in 10 minutes, no discoloration (yet)
