Factory Tach for a 6 Cyl.?

Currently doing a frame-up on a 67 shortstep and just got to wondering- is there a factory tach that will work with my 250 6 cyl.? I am going to upgrade the original 3 hole cluster to one with gauges and I thought while I had it apart now would be the time to do a tach install. Any info on this would be appreciated.
Thanks! Bryan

Re: Factory Tach for a 6 Cyl.?

They did make a factory 6 cyl tach. There is a couple on e-bay right now, but they seem to bring more than an 8 cyl tach. They also go to 5k rpms...

While they are marked 8 cyl and 6 cyl... I have been told there is a hole on the back that you can reach in with ascrewdriver and adjust it to work with either or.

I know of this hole you speak of, and it seams to be how you calibrate the gauge so I'm with Longhorn on that it may be possible to work on both.

Re: Factory Tach for a 6 Cyl.?

I have been told that the reproduction tach's can be calibrated for 6 cylinders.

Any idea as to where the best place to get a repro tach from? I could call whoever has them and verify this.....
Thanks!
Bryan

Re: Factory Tach for a 6 Cyl.?

I think Classic Industries and all the others sell the same tachs and clusters. I talked to a speedometer shop in my area and he says he can calibrate one to work on a 6 cylinder.
