Question BB valve covers, need suggestions.

I am wanting to replace the old stock valve covers on my 402 BB. Not really interested in any cheap chrome that flakes off. I've seen pics of SB covers that are charcoal with red bowtie that I like the looks of, but I am open to suggestions, and would appreciate any good sources. I would even consider some good used ones if anyone has such an animal. Thanks, LB.

The edelbrock signiture series valve covers don't flake, they have a rather good price, and they have some of the best oil baffles in the industry.

I really like these. They're on eBay right now. $52, but the reserve isn't met.

I just saw that they had a broken fin. Still pretty cool.

Well, there's a few of your options. I prefer the vintage look myself. By the way Mr. Brimley, er, I mean barn , that is a SWEET truck you have!

Those late GM covers like on chevy2racr's eng really work well. They have o-rings instead of gaskets. No glue & no leaks. They are alum, so they don't flex or dent. You can polish, paint or powder coat them...and they are around swap meets & used parts places very reasonable. I even have a couple sets for sale under $100...shhhhhhhhhhhhh!

If you've got an extra $2000 you could probably still get this set of covers:

I bought a set of tall polished covers for my 402. Had to lengthen the alternator belt and I still haven't put the passengers side on as it looks like I will have to reloacate the vacuum can and modify the AC compressor bracket as well as lengthening the belt. I am going to buy the GM performance parts cast aluminum covers from Scoggin Dickey. Only $99 a pair and the come with bolts, gaskets, grommets and filler cap! If you have a non-Ac truck and want to buy my polished covers with billet PCV, breather and fill cap shoot me an email. I paid $100 for the covers and another $60 for the accessories but will let 'em go for the $100 it will cost me to get the GM covers.
