dana 20 vs. np205

looking at a possible transmission upgrade, and I wanted to see if the dana 20 and np205 have any dimensional or spline count differences that would mean that switching to a 4 spd from a 3 spd would mean I have to swap my current transfer case out. (looking to go from a 3 spd saginaw to a 4 spd saginaw)
Also, if it appears I have to swap my dana 20 for an NP205, will I have driveshaft length issues?
What is the input spline count for these two transfer cases?

I do know that your transfer case crossmember will need to be dropped down about 1 inch to give the NP205 clearance. If you don't it will hit the bottom of the floor. Can't speak to the rest of your questions.

205 Spline input counts for:
th350 = 27
SM465 = 10
Th400 = 32

Re: dana 20 vs. np205

I think you'd be happier with a granny-gear 4-speed rather than a Saginaw. SM-420, SM-465 and NP-435 are common in old Chevys. I dont think they make transfer case adapters for a Sagina, anyway.

Re: dana 20 vs. np205

the D20 uses a 10 spline input and a crappy sleeve, just like the 465/205.
