More progress on the 67
Yesterday I finally got into the booth and jammed the doors, fenders and hood. I spent most of today bolting them on and aligning everything. This thing is starting to look like a truck after eight years.

Wish i had a booth to do my spraying in, gonna have to do the plastic sheeting booth in my shed.
Looks like it will be a sweet truck when your done.

Thanks Eric. I don't forsee this thing on the road for some time yet. I don't even have a drive train yet. If I am patient, I'll find that old 73 and up rusty 2wd with low miles as a doner for an engine and tranny. You would think such a truck could be found around here for a song.

That's gonna look great. Is the color baby blue? Did you use any repop pieces or did you repair the original metal? Is it a stepper or fleet?

The color is 1974 Ford (I know, I know) pickup baby blue. It will be one color with the exception of some metalic silver accents on the inside and maybe the grill. The truck was originally a 67 GMC LWB that I shortened. I bought a stepside bed from a 1980 chevy that I plan to add. All the sheet metal is original with the exception of the rockers, cab corners and the lower fender tip on the right side.

Today I took the hood hinges that I purchased from another member to class, cleaned them up, sprayed them down with acid wash, sprayed on the etch and painted them gloss black. I now have a five day weekend to get through, then will be bolting on and aligning the hood. I guess all I have left is to jam the cowl, paint the grill and bolt it all together. The truck will then be stored until I find an engine and tranny and get the bed finished. There is still the matter of adding all the new rubber seals, bump stops and grommets. Maybe by the end of next school year I can drive the thing home.

That, and the door handles were the first things to go. I like "old school", but I also like the clean look and safety of the shaved handles and tank filler hole. Because it is a 67 there are no front markers and I will be filling the marker holes in the bed. I removed the chrome strip along the front of the grill and the GMC emblems, then welded everything up. I plan to paint the grill a satin black with a metalic silver background. I also found out by doing alot of measuring that the late model Chevy Colorado third brake/cargo light fits the cab contour perfectly. That will be a mod soon.
