my first resto help me
ok i finally got started redoing my 71 short stepside i got all the interior took out today and the old stock 2 barrell carb intake off and set the tunnel ram and 2 4 barrells on it just to check hood clearance and it hits with the hood with the air cleaners i really want to use it but i dont want to cut a hole in the hood and i really want to stay with the stock hood. i want to go to a 67 front clip is there more or less room with that front end. and next of all im getting ready to start buying parts for the engine one thing i cant make up my mind about is heads i know i want alum heads, im going with a .525 lift lunati voodoo cam im hoping for 450 to 500 hp but dont want to spend alot on heads. and is there anyone on here from around eastern ky with parts for sell thanks alot guys i will post some pics as soon as i get my camera back from my buddy i gave it to him he is a daddy as of last nite to alittle boy so in a few years i will have a fishing buddy...lol cant wait

Check the parts board. You shouldn't be too far from Tim Christian .Huck, bisquik65 and a few others should be fairly close to you for used parts. Here's a link to the board vendors.

If you haven't pulled the engine yet take a real good look at clearance on the pan to cross member and dist. to firewall. Some of the old trucks had tall motor mounts. You can change them to a later model and gain 2 to 3 inches. Its been to long for me to remember what years work. That was before all the junkyards crushed everything so might be harder to pull off now days. I don't know what you have in mind for your truck but tunnel ram with 2 4 barrels and stock hood? Good luck. (wish I was 21 again)
