My paint idea - work in progrees
Here is what I have so far. The color is a satin blue from Krylon. Yes it's spray paint in a can. What you see here is one coat, about 2 cans. I am going to put 2 coats on it and wet sand it to try ans even it out so you don't see the spay can effect so much. I even those of just sanding it with a mild brush type pad. We'll see. I figure if I sand to much I may accidentaly get a "patina" effect. The top with be an off white, Ivory if you will. The grill will match. The wheels will either be black or (hold on to your hats) GREEN. The motor is out right now and I am detailing the engine bay the best I can with out totaly redoing it, I don't have the money for that yet. Anyway, this should hold me over till I do. To motor is going to be red with very little chrome.

Re: My paint idea - work in progrees
I was gonna spray can paint my truck to tide me over till I could do it the right way. I ened up buying a "touch up" spray gun that held about 1 cup of paint, bought a gallon of "Tremclad" rust paint ( Canadian version of Rustolium) and sprayed it in my garage. The gun cost $12.00 on sale and the paint was about $30 for the gallon. I thined it 4/1 with mineral spirits and was amazed at how well it turned out. It doesn't have a high gloss and took about a week to harden up. I did the whole truck including the engine compatment and used only 1/2 a gallon of paint. In spring I think I''ll sand it and give it another coat and see if I can polish it up to get a little more shine out of it. It's a low budget project and ain't going in any shows so what the hell. I'm trying to keep this one a hobby and not an obsession. I figure I'd have spent as much or more on rattle cans than I did buying the gun and pail-O-paint.

I though about that but I decided to go this way. Plus I am looking for no shine at all.

I know right. I figure I am an "Artist" and i'll chalk it up to that. It's going to be my "shop truck"
for my graphics side business. Similar to the other black truck pictured. Quote:

Zumo, are you keeping the side trim on the cab and fenders? I've been looking for some and would be interested in buying it from you if you are willing to sell....

Re: My paint idea - work in progrees
I painted a truck years ago with Krylon "satin" paint.
Afterwards, I washed it with a "bug sponge". It's one of the plastic mesh sponges used for removing stubborn bug guts, available at Wal-Mart or wherever. The slight abrasivness of the bug sponge removed all of the stripes and texture from the paint and made it all blend together so it dodn't look spray canned. It still looked cool when I sold it two years later.

Re: My paint idea - work in progrees
Andy I think the blue and creme will look awesome together. On the other hand I just can't see the lime green working with it. Of course I'm no artist so maybe I don't have the vision you do, but it makes my mouth pucker thinking about it....

N2, Trust me I am having troubles my self. I think I will start out with them black first. then we'll go from there. I am going to use wide white wall tires. You can't talk me out of that. so we'll see.

Re: My paint idea - work in progrees
Yeah I am going to take a stab at "sidewall sanding" myself with an angle grinder.
