Hey Guys,
This morning my Dad & I took his truck to a real small town east of here.
On the way there, my Dad & I lost count after 15 '67-'72 trucks.

About 5 were in peoples driveways, the others were either parked out in a field, by a barn with other junk, or being parted out. I can't believe I seen this many in one area.

The Guy I went to see about a TH350 trans had something like 5 or 6 '71-'72 C10 swb trucks he was parting out, besides 1 '73-'87 truck I got the trans from.

I felt bad for the one red '71-'72 swb stepside that was rolled.

Now that all these trucks have 5 lugs, isn't there a difference in brakes from '71 & '72?

I heard that '71 front brakes are more expensive than on the '72 trucks.

How do I decode the VIN on these trucks?

What's a good price to pay for the complete front IFS from hub to hub?

Also what's a good price to pay for a '71-'72 rear end?

I'm going to ask if he would want to do a trade, since at the moment I don't got alot of extra funds, since I bought the trans. lol

I tried to get $100 for a wheel to wheel setup from a 72 and had no luck, but maybe stuff where you live is harder to find. I personally wouldn't pay more than 100 bucks for it, same with the rearend unless it's a posi.

Call a parts store on avalability of the calapers, rotors and pads.... I'm thinking you are right on that, I THINK 71 was a one year only disc brake set up, which if I am right on that, odds are they'll be discontinued in the near future.

71 brakes are not a problem at all they inter change with 73 and up, the exact same caliper except the hoses are angled off the caliper a little more back toward the truck. How do I know this you ask!
I just did a complete brake job on my 71 disc's. I had ordered the caliper's for my 71 and received the 73 calipers it was last Friday and didn't really feel like waiting till monday to reorder. So Satuday I decided to check them out on the truck. Guess what they worked. Just so you know I replaced rotor's, lines drums,pads,shoes, all the rubber hoses, all the coil springs,wheel cyclinders evrything on the brake sytem except the booster and master cyclinder and hard lines.

personally ive given up on trying to sell suspension pieces. ive given away complete front and rears. i even gave away a short frame last summer and i recently gave away a 4x4 chassis.

What types of gear ratios does the '67-'72 swb C10 have?
Is there a specific gear ratio difference between the 10 bolt & 12 bolts?
So I can use a '71 & '72 IFS no matter what then?

no 10 bolt rears, only 12 bolt and dana.

I think there was another for big block 1/2 tons, but nothing coming to mind other than the 3.54, but that's in 3/4 ton and up trucks.

If the truck was an automatic, probably 3.07. 3 speed, probably 3.73. Check the option sheet too.

I bought a complete 71 set up from a yard for 100 bucks, the price also included the lines, power booster, master cylinder, and support brackets. I also snaked the connecting rod to the brake petal. I spent another 200 or so replacing the rotors, calipers, hoses, bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, bearings, etc... you get the idea. As far as price difference between 71 and 72 Autozone or Advance (whichever one has the MOOG stuff, can't remember which at the moment, maybe both do?) anyway they had the same parts listed for 71 and 72 and for the same price. As far as rear-ends I can not find a 5 lug around here for under $200. I've tried. I gave up and bought a set of 6 lug rotors. (got a great deal on them from TxFirefighter) I guess it will be cool to tell people I have power disks on my 67 and they still see 6 lugs up front

Did you know they are as rare as 4th door suburban?

It sucks not being able to hear! LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB! After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
