alternator question

Looking to replace my alt with a 100 amp one wire chrome one. Anyone had any luck with the ones summit or jegs sells?

Check this site out it may help you decide, I know it did for me. My opinion is I'll stick with what I have. I have the external regulator bypassed and run a three wire setup.

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I already have the one wire conversion and dont plan on changing just needing to go to 100 amp and like the chrome ones just wondering if they are any good.

Not bagging you andy just have read it already and still like the one wire setup better. And really am just looking to see if any of the companies that jegs or summit sells are any good.

Maybe I was not clear in my first post I am not looking to convert to anything I have a 1 wire alt now just want to up the amps to 100 and go chrome.

The only drawback with chromed alternators that I'm aware of is that the chroming doesn't dissipate heat as well as plain cast or billet aluminum housings. Cool temps help alternators last longer. That's why the best ones have heatsinks and extra or larger fan blades. Check if the chrome ones you're looking into have heatsinks and premium fan setups to compensate for the chrome's heat retention. If your truck has a low, overall amp draw, maybe it wouldn't matter, since alternator heat generation mostly occurs during charging.

With stamped steel valve covers, I think I've read that chromed stamped steel passes heat 80% worse than just painted stamped steel. But that was years ago that I read such things, so I can't be sure of the percentage. Just sure that chrome hampers heat dissipation.
