double hump.....question!?
I went and dug out my double humps (three or four sets) and I noticed one set has a Z/2. cast into the intake runners (the center pair looking from the valve side). I have seen literally hundreds of these heads and I have not ever seen this marking, so the question is, are these from the Z/28? They are date coded on 67 and on MORTEC's site they say to be from the 302/327, so is this a super rare $1,000 set of heads or did some come with the stamping that has nothing to do with the model of car they fit? Curious, I am not guaging a value, moreover I am trying to ID these heads. I have done a search on ebay and mortec with no luck? Any SBC head guru's out there?

Re: double hump.....question!?
What is the casting # and date code? Straight plug? or angle? 2.02 or 1.94? Accy mounting holes or no? (probably not on the last one) I know they had some variations in the head design. I had a pair of "X" heads awhile back.

Casting #'s are 3890462 and the date code is B 5 7, they code out as 67 302/327 heads. My question was, if or what the significance of the Z/2. (does it mean Z/28? or would that be too obvious?) was if there was any? I am guessing they are 1.94X1.50, but they could be 2.02? I read up on them and no mention of the casting stuff on the intake runners. Anybody??? |

Re: double hump.....question!?
I just got off the phone with a year one tech and he seemed to think the Z/2. was a casting ID of some sort with no real meaning. I thought it was odd and had never seen nor heard of it. I'll keep looking, as I doubt it was for nothing, but on the other hand the general did a lot of stuff for no apparent reason. Anyone else ever seen this??
