What did you get done?

I was off this weekend so I managed to get a few things done. I went Saturday morning and got maintenance work done on my wife's Denali. First stop was Jiffy Lube, then I filled it with gas and took it to Tire & Wheel Connection to have the tires rotated and balanced. While they were at it I had them fix the slow leak in one tire. Turns out it had a 2" long piece of a 1/4x20 bolt in it.

Then I got a phone call from my buddy Keith. He put my Ramjet on the phone and let me listen to it. It has a really nice rumble to it. Man I can't wait to go to Rockwall test it out.

The rest of the afternoon was spent working in my garage with my daughter. We are building a mouse trap car for her 8th grade IPC class. I'll get some pics as soon as I get it together.

Today we worked on the Mouse Trap car again then we went to volleyball practice.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

I stripped down my doors, took out the vent windows and all mechanisms, started taking units down to bare metal, at the same time I filled in the fender emblems on my nos fenders, then found a few low spots on my cab and laid on a thin coat of putty so I can clean the cab up and get my k2 sprayed on it. ALSO---scored an NOS dash from a guy in Kentucky, black of course. So I will be looking forward to getting that this week. Hopefully I can start looking for a radiator this week, I'm hoping to score an aluminum one!

By the way,,,,I want to thank all for the input on working on their rides and keeping me motivated...it's been rough!

Re: What did you get done?

well tuesday got my term paper typed, while i was typin it, my brother called, he had just gotten engaged, took the old motor to almost a bare block, the crank was turned .020, i am just gonna get it polished, the block was bored .060 it has clean cylinder walls, it apparently had a recent rebuild, it has dish pistons and 462624 heads, so it had a whopping 8.08:1 compression ratio, , unbolted and took the driveshaft out, thinkin about pullin the old tranny out, and maybe this week if it gets a little hotter clean out the interior(its around 10 degrees), can't remember anymore

Re: What did you get done?

I got my fenderwells and bumper etched, a final coat of DPLF on the core support and the outside of the fenderwells DPLF'd. I'm going to put white DPLF on the bumper, and if I can get the inside of the fenderwells primed this week I'm in good shape!

Re: What did you get done?

I went to see Robert Earl Keen in concert Friday night. Saturday was spent looking for a new car. I found a couple, should know today. Sunday was too cold to do much of anything, except stay inside and work on my house. I went through all of my stuff getting everything I needed to do my taxes, and the office was closed. At least that stuff is ready.

Tracey, it seems like there was a recall on the Trailblazer fan clutches. You might check that out.

Re: What did you get done?

Changed the oil on my fiance's Camry on Friday

My GTA had a little issue with leaky t-tops last summer, and as a result, the black bar between the t-tops rotted. I picked up a cheap used one that had a couple small dents, so I spent a little bit of time sanding that down, filling the dents, then hitting it with a little bit of bumper trim paint. I wetsanded it last night, and hopefully tonight I'll have time to polish it to a nice semigloss shine.

Re: What did you get done?

I got my new engine running Monday night. I got pulled over by the police during my test drive because they said my truck matched the description of one seen leaving several burglaries. I have put about 75 miles on it since then with zero problems, so that's good.

I need to finish up some minor stuff like plug wire routing and hooking up my A/C wiring, but it has been too cold and wet. The only thing I managed to get done this week was to change my break-in oil. I was hoping to finish it up this weekend, but the temps were around freezing, with light rain. I guess it will have to wait.

We have had family in town all weekend, so I probably would not have gotten anything done even if we had good weather.

Re: What did you get done?

This week end I didnt get to work on my truck, I went to Reno with my wife and son. It was my son's first time seeing snow.(he is only 2) We had a blast though. I know that you all remember The Christmas Story when the little kid is all geared up for the snow and he can hardly walk and can't even move his arms. Well that was the way my son was. lol. Oh yeah my brake kit came in will post pics later.

Re: What did you get done?

Hmmm, had a busy and productive weekend for trucks.
Friday afternoon I went and picked up my newly aquired 6.0L LS motor and took it to my brothers shop.
Saturday I started getting all the parts for my "rolling" advertisement together: Dakota Digital setup, Rod Doors interior pieces, Painless wiring harness, Fuel sending unit.... Plus made up an initial list of parts that I need to order for it.
Sunday I started gathering the parts necessary for making the "spare" truck moveable since it will be the new victim. Purchased the 4L80E a friend left for me. Got the 12bolt with 4.10's out of the garage, found the flip kit, mounted some spare wheels on the diff and rolled it out to the frame. Pulled the front clip off the back of the frame and called it a night
Monday I hunted for the U-bolts for the flip all over the place and finally found them. During such time I semi-organized one table in the garage as the were NOT there. After Jamie and I were hunting for them for about 45 minutes a buddy came over and he started to look also and found them within 2 minutes of looking for them.. DUH. Put the rear diff under the frame and ran into interference with the bolt and mounting plate so I needed to fix that (forgot I pulled 2 leafs so bolt was longer ) work on it a while and called it a night.
