With my new junkyard score.. I showed my wife, and the neighbors, and they all looked at me like I was nuts.
But I got this tailgate that looks like it didn't spend much time on any truck for $35....So I am happy!
Got it off a 67 GMC Camper Special, and my feeling is that this truck had a camper on it for most of the last 30 years and the tailgate was in storage.
Within the last few years somebody must have bought it an shot some primer on it.
So it is in near perfect condition, just has a nasty primer job on it.

I need to share since no one around here understands.you just dont find this stuff everyday.

That was a 2 year only tailgate too, so I'd imagine you could get quite a bit out of it if you wanted to.

I never noticed it was different until now, I thought all GMC tailgates were the same.

nope, 67 and 68 had the small print, as seen in your pic, 69 - 72 had the larger print.
Minor detail that VERY few would catch.

Please tell me that the radiator support is the same on a 67 GMC and my 70 cause I got one off the truck too, and it was a real P.I.T.A. to remove.

Thank god, I had to look at a picture of my truck to make sure I had the right tailgate, and I actually do. HOORAY!!! Also nice score.

Paul... I'm not sure honestly. I'm guessing though that they are not the same though. The leading edge od the hood on a 67 is quite a bit lower than on a70, so I'm thinking the latch and stuff is much lower.
