Drip rail progress.

Well I finally finished smoothing out the area where the drip rails used to be. We had to put this step on hold for a while, but I think that Dylans cab is coming along nicely. I wish I was better at body work, took me a long time.

Re: Drip rail progress.

you still left that "edge" there. that's one way of doing it i suppose, i would of made a smooth transition from the roof to the pillars. looks good and i can't complain since i was scared to touch my driprails.

Do you mean the top edge above the windshield?

Thanks everyone. I did get some some other pics, but can't find them right now. Here's a couple though. The cab is sittin' on the firewall.

It was a major effort (read PITA).

Rollie396 - Just looked at a bunch of your pictures. Looks like we're doing about the same deal. Nice job on the photos of your great work.

Thanks. I don't think I'd ever do it again. I didn't keep track of the time it took, but can assure you it was well over 50 hours (probably 100). As everyone who has answered this same question, this is not a project for the average do-it-yourselfer. I did not have the necessary skills (but do now ) gaining the skills is the best reason to do it. Tense moments included the first section I cut out and learned how GM put these things together (3 layers at the doors - 2 at the windshield, which makes it much harder there). Another moment of tension was when I learned that the very outside of the pillars is farther outside of the roof, had to do some creative cutting and welding on that. Also, this cab was never put together straight behind the drivers window, filled from the factory. I did my best to straighten it out while it was all cut apart. I'm really glad it's over.

that's the edge. i would of made it smooth, but it still looks good your way. it makes it look "mean" or edgy.

Requires sectioning the roof. I wasn't up for that, tapped out as it was...
