Can someone tell me how and where to separate the steering shaft to remove the steering column from the cab?

In the first pic, right under the power booster, is where you want to unbolt it from the intermediate shaft. There is just one bolt that you undo and then it is splined. you may need a few taps with a hammer to coax it loose.

Like 70shortstep said or if you want to include the lower shaft then remove the bolts near the gearbox. For just the upper part, the bolt has to completely be removed for the shaft to slide out.

Thanks...I loosened (?) that bolt and could see the spines and even tried to separate it by prying it but didn't hit it with a hammer. I think there is a spring with a washer next to it. Thanks again.

You have to completely remove the bolt. It sits down in a slot in the shaft and prevents you from being able to pull the shaft out of the clamp.
