Will this fit under my seat?

I saw a air of under the seat subwoofer boxes in JC Whitney that are 5inches tall. I haven't been able to get the tape measure out and check, so I was wondering if anyone knew whether they'd fit under a bench seat. They're only $25 for the pair, so I'd definitely try it out.

burbing and farting? Aren't boxes just a wooden box with carpet on it? I just can't imagine paying upwards of $100 for something I could build with stuff laying around the house, but $25 sounds good enough for me.

they do sell them with the subs for like $50, but there's no way I'd buy that. I just want the boxes, then I'll go to a local Car Audio shop and shop around for a good pair of subs.

at 5" they'll fit but you'll have to unbolt your seat and this assumes they arent much over 11" square. the problem you will find is getting subs that can handle that low a mounting depth and that tight a volume. also if yu want 2 boxes you gotta cut the wire that runs to the pass side for adjusting the seat

New carpet's going in next week and the seat will stay out for a week or two while I reupholster it, so that's not a problem. As for the wire to adjust the seat, I'll have to take a look at that because I've never known of any kind of adjustment to my seat. Thanks for the help.

They fit. I have them, at least I have a pair of 8" woofers in small boxes that I bought from JC Whitney. I assume you are referring to the same boxes. They fit under the seat without removing it. And the adjustment wire is only a problem if you are adjusting your seat often. I have to pull my seat all the way forward so I have room to push them under the front frame. There is more clearance once they are under the seat. Then you can put the seat back. Mine do touch the adjustment wire, but does not bend it (so it still holds the right side of the seat in place). Let me know what speakers you end up with and how is sounds. I just had the cheap ones that they came with and they are more midrange/woofers. I had plans to buy some low volume subs, but haven't yet. I removed them and installed a 10" JBL GT sub temporarily until I build a console or try some good 8 inchers.

I had to make my own boxes out of a set of old truck speaker boxes. I didn't take any measurements, because I had to re do them about 3 times. When you think you have the right measurements, the corner woud have to be rounded and other unforseen things when you have them set into place. They are smaller than I want them to be, but they are as big as they physicaly can be, I even had to put a couple of washers under the seat rails to gain a bit of height. They work great for sound, better than no subs. When they are in, you can feel the bass right on your a$$.

My worthless opinion would pick up the $25 boxes and rip the cloth off, cut down the boxes, and reinstall the cloth with glue, Just what I did. They look OK, but not professional, and way better if there were no cloth because the cloth hides all the joints, ecpesially if you use your saw as badly as I do.
