latest purchase 70 Sierra Grande

Picked up another one last weekend. It's a 70 2wd Sierra Grande. It will be mated with a 72 4wd as soon as the frame/ suspention and other work is done on the 4wd. Hope to send it off for paint before summer. It ain't pretty, but it has solid metal and some decent options, along with a bunch of new parts. No rust in floors, supports, rockers, cab corners. Came with NIB front and rear bumpers, tail gate. mirrors. Other new parts include a/c compressor, blower, heater/ac controls, underdash box, brand new tires/wheels. Has about 20k on a mid eighties 350 with edel intake, carb, v-cover and air cleaner. Has flowmasters dual ex., posi, ac, tach. Runs great. Was originally a bbc, so already has the hi/hump. It's got a few dents and dings, but My son's thrilled, and I get to drive MY truck again. Need a set of upper and lower moldings and a set of qt panel scripts. Also needs glove box sticker. I'm hoping the build sheet is still under the sheet.

Nice looking rig, but that must be a 71 if it's a sierra grande? Nice buy

Re: latest purchase 70 Sierra Grande

I did some research and I believe that the sierra grande did start in 70 or 69 unlike the cheyenne(super) models. Anyone have the info right for sure?

Re: latest purchase 70 Sierra Grande

Sometimes titles are goofy. I have a 67 that was bought early and is titled as a 1966.

It's got the 70 grill/ not 71. Of course grill and scripts can be added/changed. So if anyone knows for sure, I want to know.

Re: latest purchase 70 Sierra Grande

Does it have the VIN-spec sheet on the glovebox door?If the SierraGrande was out before`71,that`s news to me.But,common knowledge has been wrong before.

Sounds like it's not a sierragrande. Would a 70 be a sierra. It's got the chrome wingwindows, a/c, tach, posi, upper and lower trim, etc. So a high optioned truck anyway. It has the sierragrande script only on one side, and it's broken. But I want to replace them with year correct scripts. Glove box sticker is gone. I'm hoping the build sheet is under or behind the seat. I'll be removing it shortly to recover the seat. Here's a pic of the seat cover we bought. Not a slip on. You remove the original and recover the seat foam. It should be here tomorrow. This gal has lots of options available on these covers for gmc and bowties and the price is around $200, depending on what you want. I'll post install pics and let you know how the fit and finish is.

Re: latest purchase 70 Sierra Grande

The only reason the rack is still on there is the po lost the key. I thought it might be worth a few ebay bucks, so I wouldn't let my son cut it off. After looking at ebay, I'll let him cut it. It's not worth the cost of a locksmith to key it.

I think the fender badges just say 1500/v-eight, but I'll have to look again. Anybody have a breakdown on the different gmc option packages and the years they were available?

8bolt- I'll pm contact info for the seat covers.
