door pins for coutesy lights

I robbed the factory option 67 coutesy lights out of my Nova wagon before I sold it, now I want to install them in my 67 truck. I have door pins out of a chevelle, and wondered if they would fit, and how or where to install them.

I looked last night, and didn't see a particularly parallel surface. Has anyone done this? Do you have pics?

I just did this to mine, but with generic pin switch. When you open the door, you should see a small, flat area approx 1" x 1" or so on the front door jamb of the cab. Hot wire to hot side of light. Ground side of light to door switch. When the door opens, ground completes, light comes on. I just drilled a hole just big enough for the switch to screw into. Sorry I don't have a pic, I don't have my truck on the road at the moment since I started the long to short conversion.
Now that I'm FINALLY getting over being sick , I should be able to get the bed done this weekend.

Justin from what I remember in previous posts the 67 did not have the raised boss. You can probably improvise with mounting the switch at an angle square with the door when you tap the hole threads. John

John you are right. I thought this would be a straight forward mod till I saw that I didn't have the raised boss. Thanks for the help.

Where did you fish your wires too? Up the under the dash to a new hole?

Here is what a 69 - 72 looks like with the factory installed deal...

I have heard of ppl doing this on the 67/68 trucks and putting the pin in the back portion of the door jamb... like where the rubber bumpers are.

I'd looked at the door bumper location. It is close to the dome wires so should be ideal, but I'll have to do some measuring to see If I have the room.

I just went out to check out the area below the upper door bumper. It is going to work perfectly. I'll run my wire over the gas tank to the driver's side and connect behind the door striker plate. The courtesy lights will connect to the dome light wires under the dash. I'll start working on it this week. Trying to get that and my underhood light working.

Hey that emans my cabs definitely a 67 then as thers no boss there. Some pics of your final install would be good as I intend doing something similar as I miss having a light that comes on when you open the door.

I just put some in recently...Had to for the alarm/keyless entry.

I'll try and snap a pic in a little bit, as I just happen to have my truck out today. I put them in behind the door latches, so they are totally hidden.

I used some new style GM pins right from the local Chevy dealer.

Where the switch came through the door jamb, I just threaded that, so that it was it's own capture so to speak, and didn't have a need for a nut on the back side. Then, on the front, just ran a little soft epoxy around the rim of it to give it a good seal.

The opposite side of the door latch hits it dead on.

Still need to clean up my wiring a bit, but I have a few other projects going with it right now too, so...

I put mine where the upper bumper is. The hole is already the right size for a standard switch so theres no drilling. I hollowed out the bumper a bit and it fit back over the switch. Can't even see it and it works great. Just run a wire over the tank to the other side to splice it in. I put pics on the board awhile back.

I drilled the holes last night right below the middle bumper. Got both of them threaded. Installed the normal bullet connector on the passenger side, and was going to install the spade type switch on the driver's side. While wrestling the oem connectors off the the switch I managed to destroy a 35 yr old piece of plastic.

Project will be delayed untill this weekend while I wait for the JB weld to cure.

It was really simple...and noone has noticed them. Like I said, I need to fix the wiring a little (so it isn't sticking out so far). Plus I like the thought of it being a new switch. Works like a charm.
