question about a quote for sandblasting

Is $2000 for the following a good deal:
Remove: molding, door handles & glass, gas tank A/C stuff, steering system, front/back glass, exhaust
Sandblast: frame(not the front suspension) bed, cab(inside & out), front-end
rust incapasulator: frame
primer: frame, bed, cab, front-end

put everything back together

I have to buy any parts that cannot be reused like the cab/bed mounts.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. What you have listed is pretty labor intensive. I would be willing to pay that much if I didn't want to do it myself.

I remember reading several posts when I first arrived here saying it's bad to sandblast the long areas of the cab because it will warp/ripple the metal and that you should have those areas media blasted instead. I don't know how true this is. Just a headsup.

The deal does sound good, but I personally agree with shifty. Sandblasting is rough on metal. I'd only have it done on the "rusty" and hard to get to areas. Whereever they can get a DA sander on I'd have them do that. I'm sure if they are a good body shop they woudln't mess up your trucks body, I'm just a stickler for the DA method.

Honestly, when push comes to shove and it's time to do the work on my truck I think I'm going to just drive down to Bradenton and have Ed @ Mothertruckers dip and paint my truck.

A little OT here, but when I removed my column this past weekend, I found one of the original paint colors on the truck and funny enough it's the EXACT color I wanted to paint the truck - it's the same color of green, but a high luster metallic. I LOVE IT. Just gotta figure out how to find out what that paint color is.

well it's a good price if they know what they're doing // the thing about warppage is HOGWASH sandblasting is media blasting the media they use is sand // do you know anybody that has used these people B-4?? or is it a firsttimer if they use the right pressure and angle to blast it can and will be a cost effective way to do it//personally i've been blasting stuff with sand for well over 30years without a warped panel but yes i've seen dimwits ruin a body by using a blaster better suited for blasting a bridge blast a body straight on a ruin a body in seconds. look out for people that soda blast cause that stuff voids almost any warrenty a paint manufactureer has 18months and major problems there

I blasted my whole truck with no damage...but you have to know what you're doing. You can make a piece of straight metal look like a washboard if you're not careful. Just make sure they know what they're doing.

These guys have been doing this for a long time. I went out to their shop and looked at some of the cars they had in progress. I was impressed. Also, I called around to see what couple of paint shops thought about their work, they come well recommended. Even Dallas Mustang (I know, I know) recommended working with these guys.

90% of that cost is the disasembly/reasembly labor - the sandblasting alone should only cost $200-$300. I paid $150 to have my bed and rolling frame blasted.

I agree with cdowns and junkyardjohn. I sandblasted my intire truck sheet
metal with no problems.

Thanks for the input guys.

I could have save some money by taking more stuff off myself, but I just don't have the tools and room to do it. These guys seem to take pride in their work, so hopefully I will be getting my money's worth.
