what do these do?????

What are the screws in the the wing window frame on blazers, or so i'm guessing, do? Is it just to brace the wing because there is no upper frame on the door, or is there some crazy explanation for what they do? They have an odd shaped black plastic cap on them. (sorry pictures wont cooperate)

Re: what do these do?????

Extra door / vent window support would be my guess , I saw those screws
on the other thread, mine do not have the plastic, they are flush in the door.

Re: what do these do?????

Thanks for the insight. I was getting tired of people asking me what they were for and having no clue.

Re: what do these do?????

A stock blazer door without the reinforcing inner to outer screw will flex a lot over time. There is a small strip of metal there that is supposed to hold things together but was not terribly effective. It's all kind of linked to the door hinges and the normal lack of lubricant. As the hinges stiffened, the doors would get all the stress from opening--it would appera on the door hinge plates and eventually to the inner and outer skin. I have a perfect example--will add a picture later~~~!

Re: what do these do?????

Man.....i've wondered why my doors have these holes in them that look factory. I'm definatley missing the screw head that covers it. all i see is a hole and a threaded shaft that is just sitting there.

Is there a picture somewhere of the nut I'm missing?

Re: what do these do?????

Did all blazers come with the plastic thing or did they come with just the screws in a metal sleeve like the trucks???
