My new white dash - Pics

Board member Byrd sold me the white overlays and helped me with the installation of them and other questions and also sold me the new lense with the darker green lettering . I added the clock from a 82' Suburban and the tach is a Sunpro 3.5" (the stainless ring makes it look like it was made for our bezels). I had to trim 5/16" of the center ring of the bezel and it slid it nice and tight. I used Krylon glow orange paint in a bottle for the needles that actually glow. I used the blue LED bulbs with 5 LED's per bulb (refractor type) and you need 4 total bulbs. I wired it up to the dimmer wire on the headlight switch. It looks way better in person. I even spray painted the inside of the turn signal tubes white to brighten them up!

From byrd. He is a board member. This lense makes all the difference when going to white gauges. Look at how it glows at night also.

Very nice, I'm thinking about white gauge faces also. Are they available for tach dash?

Re: My new white dash - Pics

aitch- they have overlays for factory tachs.
Billa- you are correct. The Sunpro tach is shallow enough to fit inside the cluster.

Re: My new white dash - Pics

WOW Jim that looks very nice , You and the other members see what I mean about using the lens I carry for the white gauges!! That is a great nite shot of the dash!! you deserve an atta boy for the excellent job . One other thing to point out is I order my white overlays with the hot mark on the temp gauge printed with red to look stock, I specify and pay xtra for it(the ones on Ebay do not come this way the hot mark is not indicated clearly it is left black ) I have never used that type of bulb, looks neat , but I did order some 6 point and some 9 point LED from superbrightleds.com and haven't used them yet just got them today. I have been using their 4 point LED with great success, I"m hoping the 6 point will be better, and that the 9 point is not too bright

Wow..that looks really cool. Does the brightness ever become "too much" or is the lighting level just comfortable, if you know what I am asking? Thanks.

Re: My new white dash - Pics

byrd- the first thing my dad noticed was the red hot mark printed on the temp gauge!. Good idea you had.
HeavyD- These refractors are dimmable (if that's a word) and the pic is at brightest level. I'm not sure if all LED's can be dimmed by the switch but these can be and my 1895's in my triple gauges under the heater controls are dimmable.

Re: My new white dash - Pics

Jim..Thanks, all I did was ask for them made that way. No not all LED's can be dimmed, and as a matter of fact this is the first time that I have ever seen a dimmable(yes is a word) LED, very cool !!

Re: My new white dash - Pics

Hey man, it's that little attention to detail you do on all your clusters (the red mark and the dark green letters and numbers) that makes a difference. My #74 LED in the tach doesn't seem to dim but I'm cool with that. Before I'm done almost every bulb on the truck will be replaced.
