Can someone tell me how these two parts bolt together. It has been eight years since I took it apart and I don't remember if it was screws with J-nuts or what.

From the factory they are riveted. The 67 actually uses a different top bar, the one in the pic is only for 69-72 GMC.

I'm just going to bolt mine together, unless you're going for a 100 point restoration it will be fine.

I don`t believe`67s have that piece.

My 67 GMC does have this piece. It has been a long time since I pulled it apart, but I do remember that I did not drill out any rivets. As far as I know it was held together with baling wire. I'll use small bolts with locling nuts.

67-68 are held togather with screws, 69-72 are rivited. The ones that I`ve taken apart were anyway. Woody

All the 67-68 top bars I've seen were held together by screws as Woody said.

I'm pretty sure the top bar on my 68 grill is riveted.

i have 2 67 gmc grills both are riveted together....and the 68 grill is riveted also....

this does not look like a '67 grill as I think the '67 grill has the gmc lettering stamped in the center. this looks like a '68-'72.

68-70 grille.It looked like you were pointing to the upper chrome grille surround in that picture which`67s never had.My`67 is screwed.Does your`s have the narrow chrome on it and on the leading edge of the fenders like 67/68 Chevys?If so,that`s all`68 stuff.The p.o. with the baling wire prolly swapped it on.

I just grabbed a picture from an online catalog to make my point. I'm sure the picture is not for a 67. The parts in black etch are from my 67, I filled the lettering on the front. It sounds like GM used whatever was handy to put these together.

How did you fill your letters?Is the grille painted or chrome?

Mine is painted. The grill had some slight damage to the letters to start with, so I removed the paint in and around the letters. I used a pick hammer and dolly to raise the center part of the letters flush with the outside of the grill. Trying to raise the entire letter would warp the metal. I then filled the remainder with fiberglass filler, then finished with poly filler.
