What's it worth? 400 BBC - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

I have a complete 400 Big Block Chevy that came out of my 72 GMC Sierra Grande and am guaging interest/pricing ( I think that I am going to list it locally or perhaps on the board but I don't quite know what they are really worth) It has the complete 72 motor mounts, alternator bracket, power steering pump, hoses and brackets. Oh yeah it was running when I pulled it from the truck but I think that it needs the valves replaced

400 big block?? How about a 402 or a 396. Maybe it's a 400 small block?
If you post the numbers someone here will tell you what you have. This ? best
asked on the message board. Then post a price and sell it here. Price would be determined by mileage and condition and 800 would be in the ballpark for a good runner.

as I recall the early 70s trucks with 402s were badged as 400, causing some confusion

Sorry, It is a 402, I knew that just had a brain fart when posting this. I ran the numbers earlier and they have the correct code for a 1972 Chevy truck, it is a 402 with exhaust manifolds, engine mounts, alternator brackets, power steering pump and brackets as well as possibly a Turbo 400 tranny.

Alt brackets $45
engine $500

all together $700 to $800
