May be you guys can help me
okay i have a 84 c10 silverado. It has 400 in it with edlbrok 650 carb and manifold. it also has headers and flowmaster exhaust. Thats all i really know about the motor as it was installed before i bought the truck. I know it by no means a stick motor and wish i knew wat cam and rocker/ heads the builder put in. I know it was a professional job and built down in Georgia. Any ways not that that matters but my ? is is there a D.O.T. approved slick like tire i can run behind this beast?? I really wish i could run white letter Hoosiers but have no idea if they make them DOT approved or not. also i am running rims that are maybe 2 inch wider then stock. any ideas. is ther a fatter tire i could run on a stock rim? Thanks alot
Ian

Re: May be you guys can help me
i put thoes et streets on a set of wheels for my volvo when i want to play. after i fab'd up my turbo system, stock meats just cant hook up. anyways, i get pulled over all the time when i take it out. never get any tickets because it says they're DOT legal on the sidewall, but its annoying.

If you dont have observent police in your area you could get some NASCAR Goodyear Eagles turn them backwards so that they would be blackwalls You can get them in 28x10-15 or 27.5X12- 15. You can get them from Muscle Motorsports http://musclemotorsports.com/drivetr...car-tires.html
"NASCAR tires come in basically two sizes as shown below. The 10" wide tire is a Speedway Tire used at Daytona and Talladega Speedways. The 12" wide tire comes in many compounds (softness) based on the track where it's run. Tire prices range based upon tire condition. If you want tires for souvenier purposes prices range in the $5 to $25 range. If you want tires for racing, call us so we can get you something that meets your specific needs." You could probally get by with the $5-$25 rangs since they wont be run at 200 mph and compounds wouldnt matter that much .Also you could probally stamp D.O.T on the small falt raised area of the tire sidewall from the mold and get by with it...Or pay $250 a tire for "legal slicks" Shane

Re: May be you guys can help me
I believe that if you look, the Hoosiers are a DOT type tire. Ihave some Buick Geand National Freak buddies that are running them and going to the strip and pulling some serious single digit times with them. Do the cops in your area actually look at the tires?
By the way, the Edelbrock may not be a 650 carb, unless it is the new AVS model. The early models were rated at 600CFm which broke down to about 625 CFM in reality. |
