TH350 leak

I've got a leak on my transmission, that is not slow anymore. Its leaking BAD!

I've never done any work with transmissions and wanted to see what everyone thinks is the best way to attack this problem. The below picture should show my leak.

Thanks

ACES

Re: TH350 leak

Thanks dallas71, Do you know what that "single piece" is called? So the guy at the parts store knows what I'm talking about.

Re: TH350 leak

you tried tightening the fittings?
Personally, I like the fittings liek that, it makes it easier to drop the tranny.

Re: TH350 leak

Yeah, I tried tightening it. It only made the leak worse. A LOT worse!

Re: TH350 leak

flare on the inside of the fitting may be cracked, thus tightening would make it worse. Pull it apart and take a look at the flare/lines.

Re: TH350 leak

The compression union will have 5/16 ferrules. You can cut the line with a tubing cutter and replace the union. I would use new fitting in case the old one has bad threads. The best way is still to install a new line. John

Re: TH350 leak

Just buy preflared fuel lines in the correct size/length. You can use stiff wire to mock it up and determine the length you need.
