Heater Fan Motor

I know this has been asked quit a few times but I have started taking the A/C out of my truck to fix the heater core. I remember a long time back some people where saying you could put a different fan motor in place of the stock to blow more air. Does anybody have the info and could you post it please. Thanks.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Heater Fan Motor

I've heard of installing an A/C fan motor in a non-A/C heater box. Nothing about upgrading an A/C fan comes to mind. In any case, bump for you.

Smile Re: Heater Fan Motor

The AC fan usually moves a lot of air and if you are having low air flow there could be other problems. The vanes on the fan deteriorate over time and there is always a chance of leaves and debris building up inside the ducts. If the motor does not have a good ground it will run slow or it could be defective. The relay and wiring should be checked, also.

You will want to make sure that the door in the air switch box is working properly.

Re: Heater Fan Motor

Thanks guy's, no problem with the fan, just thought since I had to take it apart for the heater core a might as well change out the fan also. I thought it was a swap for the A/C motor. It must just be for the regular heater box.

Re: Heater Fan Motor

not sure about fan upgrade.... I seem to recall something about a caddy fan also but don't remeber if it was for ac or non-ac. There's a great write up in the faq section on replacing a non AC h. core..... how about a write up (photos?) for faq on an AC heater core replacement?

AFAIK, Classic Auto Air, Vintage Air, and Old Air all claim that their aftermarket 67-72 systems come with fan motors that move more air than stock. Maybe they offer oem replacement fan motors.

To save some $$, I would prefer to find the application for a superior than oem fan motor, so btt.

Re: Heater Fan Motor

on my 72, the piece that goes on the fan motor shaft was spinning inside the blower wheel, it was supposed to be firmly attached to the blower wheel, but was spinning almost freely, I had a very loud squeal and very little airflow, I bought a new fan motor and replaced it, come to find out, just the blower wheel itself was bad. I have plenty of airflow now.

just grab the fan motor shaft in one hand and the blower wheel in the other, the wheel obiously shouldn't turn with the shaft being held

Just a thought

Re: Heater Fan Motor

I have the Hypercool Air/Heat/Defrost system in my truck. This thing blows more air on medium than my 03 Dodge blows on high.

Re: Heater Fan Motor

Ok so a blower out of a 94 chevy extended cab will work and give more air flow. Thanks roger0800 for the link. I will check on this.
Sorry about the after thought of pictures, but I was getting my truck ready for a month long trip next week. Monday I will be out of town working so I need to get this done so I can take it and have it charged back up.
