UPDATE! - Rear Clamshell Lift Supports
So I finished this a few weeks ago but had no time to get out and shot some photos. I ended up having to go with a stronger shock than I thought I would previously (http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?t=184824). I did not take into consideration that the hinge on the door is not a simple "door hinge" design. When closing the top door the struts completely compress then reopen a few inches. This actually forces the door to stay closed. I took all the measurements but can't find them right now. I will post them as soon as I can. I will also submit all the info to Jolly at www.6066gmcguy.org so he can make a page for it if he likes. I will probably end up riveting the brackets to the truck for a cleaner finish then the temp screws that are there now. Check it out. Let me know what you think.

Re: UPDATE! - Rear Clamshell Lift Supports
The struts are from a marine supply company. They were the only company I could find that provided extended and compressed lengths plus different Lbs. ratings. I went with two 30lbs's but they proved too weak. So I ordered two 60lbs's and they did the job. I also got 4 pairs of different brackets to see what would work best. Here the link: http://www.go2marine.com/frameset.js...review%3Dfalse part# 90641. I will post all the final part numbers along with the measurements as soon as I get back to the burb to measure it.
