can someone explain the diffrence between 1971 gmc and chevy fenders.
seam like some part numbers i see are the same for both but i see them listed different somtimes. they both have marker light holes right? is it the fit around the grill? i may have access to 2 whole gmc's for $300. but my chevy is the one i want to fix.i may have to buy them anyway..cheap. please help

The 68 to 72 GMC fenders are the same, will also work on 68 Chevy trucks too. 67 fenders have no marker light. The 69-72 Chevy fenders are Chevy only due to the grill surround. Hope this helps.

that plus they use a different core support because of the way they bolt up.

The 69-72 chevy fenders have an indent in them that the grill surround fits into. The gmc fenders and the 67-68 chevy fenders interchange. 67 of course has no marker light holes as noted above! The GMC fenders have trim in the front also but it's not inset into the fenders!

you guys rock....nice to have a little help on this stuff.
i'll still buy the trucks i think. southern ky classics will be at the swap meet in louisville this weekend maybe they will bring me some fenders up.
i'll let you know if i get the gmc's in case anyone wants some parts.
