Square port headers?

I am using a 98 350 vortec in my truck, it has square port heads.

Does any board members have suggestions for headers and possibly part numbers with square ports.

Would using round port headers cause any problems? other than restrictions in exhaust flow?

Would like to keep this purchase under 350 dollars if possible.

Thanks for the input.

Re: Square port headers?

call Summit and ask about square port SBC heads. 1(800) 230-3030. You might look on hookers site....can't find anything, just call their tech line 270 781-9741. (562)921-0404 is hedman's and if you buy the elite series they come ceramic coated already. Round ports will leak and restrict flow. Square ports are not going to be any more than regular headers.

Re: Square port headers?

thanks, the actual tech line for summit is 1-330-630-0240, that came from their automated system.

Tim, at summit tech said there is no square port headers and that I would have to use a good gasket and go with a round port header.

Does this sound correct?

Re: Square port headers?

Hooker makes a square port header. It's in the Super Comp line. Part # 520-2840 from Jegs. It's a 1.75 tube size. I'd get you a pic of mine but my wife is out of town and has the digital camera.

does anyone know if there is a shortie version of this header or maybe a ceramic coating part number?

Re: Square port headers?

I don't use the tech line, just the 800 number because they have access to the same info and the call is free. I did include tech numbers to the two big header companies and if you were spending money on the call, I'd call the manufacturer, then get the part # and then call Summit to order it. I have seen several sets of square port headers, I have also seen D port headers. Make sure the heads have square ports, contact headman or hooker direct, get the number, call Summit and order it, that simple.

Re: Square port headers?

Anytime I have called summit and needed technical assistance they always referred me to the pay tech line. I guess you got more knowledgeable or cooperative people when you have called. It is just the luck of who happens to answer the phone call.
