okay, sittin' in my chair at work, wracking my brain on ways to get some more legroom, and it hits me. what about the chair i'm sittin' in? it's super comfy for all-day sittin' and very low profile to boot. also, instead of fabric, it uses some really cool mesh that's strong and lightweight and very breathable. it gets me wondering, "can i use this in my truck?" i'd have to fab brackets of course, but it could be really cool. it's very adjustable, and would maximize legroom better than anything i can think of.

of course, i'll never get to try this one. the chairs are pricey (though i may be able to get good broken ones from the man. with my designer discount. hmmm.) but none at the office are broken. yet. they could be removed from the base and mounted on a cool fabbed seat bracket.

anyway, since they are kind of see-through, a person could show off a well crafted stereo speaker box behind the seat, or just about anything. see pics below. sorry they're such poor quality. i only have my phone to take the pics with.

anyone willing to try something like this?

Hate to see what you and that chair would look like if you ever got in a wreck. Altough the chair maybe comfortable it may not be strong enough for a vehicle seat. But hey I have seen guys use plastic crates as seats before!

Hey, I have the same chair. The mesh breaks down, kinda folds.

That looks something like an Aeron chair. $500-1500 retail price. Office Star has a comparable chair for about $220. Either way, bracketry would be a real PITA! But it's a funny idea. Good lumbar support

how's that baby ride over the bumps? i think i'd strap myself in and take it for a ride down the stairs before i got to excited about it. but i'm sure everyone's truck rides better than my 3/4 ton short 4x4. i need all the cush in the seat i can get i don't know what i'm going to use but i do know it won't be that springy thing i took out. i have a nice sub seat but i'd realy like one that flips foward to take advantage of the new found space where the gas tank used to be

i was going to say the same thing about getting in a wreck. arent the frames made of plastic? i know some off road company makes a suspension seat where you sit on a piece of something comfy suspended in between the side frames. TRUCKS tv had one (mastercraft, i thought of the company) on like the tomb raider jeep

yeah, i thought of the crash situation. the honda s2000 used the same material on it's seat, and i think that's where i got the original idea.

also, with my designer discount, that aeron chair will cost considerably less than what is above

not trying to think out of the box as much as i am realizing, "there is no box."

also, the seat is very comfy and the suspension has a surprising amout of cushion.

I can just imagine the center piston from that chair (used for height adjustment) taking a trip up the old poop-chute in an accident!!!

Talk about driving metal parts where they don't belong. Went over a bump the other day and I bounced up about an inch and as a result drove the "button" of my baseball cap into my skull!! ouch

Seriously, does anybody have any ideas for more headroom / legroom? I love my stock bench seat but this is the only thing I don't like about my truck. I thought I could "chop" the bracket on the seat but the back bracket seems about as low as will go.

I'm 6'02", I'm sure there must be others on this board who are even taller that have run into the same problem. Any suggestions?

Hey, maybe check the seats I am going with (as soon as I find one in tan leather so I don't have to recover it

) They are 2002 - 2005 Dodge Ram 40/20/40 seats. Take off the headrests and they look very similar to the Chevy 67-68 buddy seats. I have heard that they are also quite comfortable. They look like they may give you some added room as well (I am 6'3 myself)....Just a thought.

Well,if it's legroom you want just get out the ol' cab stretcher and get to work.I think 2-3 in. would be about the max you can get without putting the top of the seat under the edge of the cab at the back window.I wonder how one of the trucks would work out with reverse channeling(Channeling is "Body Drop" to you younger guys).

i'd also thought about (somehow) fitting the seat so that the top is just below that "skirt" below the rear window. could be a nice custom look, blending the seat smoothly with the cab.
