Door hinges and strikers are painted body color or other?
Do you guys paint your door hinges and latches the body color, or silver, black...zinc plated....etc..? Trying to decide what would look best on red...............

Body color! That's about the only way I've seen them done.

Personally I don't like to see the strike plates and latches painted the body color. To me it looks like somebody couldn't take the time to paint it correctly. Pretty much in the same category as painting over all the rubber bumpers and plastic plugs.

They were painted the body color from the factory though.

The Longhorn has original paint, but none on the latches nor strikers.
I agree that it doesn't look right when they are painted. Last edited by Longhorn Man; 07-24-2002 at 05:46 PM. |

Hinges were body color and latches and striker plates were not. I painted my latches and striker plates silver metallic, I think it looks good on a black truck.

I painted mine with Rust Oleum satin black. They look okay, but the main reason was I figure they're going to get chipped up and scratched. Sounds a lot easier to open a can of RO and do some touch up with a small brush than it would be to spray a metallic body color.

I agree with RipMeyer. My strikers were original and where the same color as his - it's kind of an oxide coating or something. I replated mine with Eastwood's tin-zinc plating system. My original hinges were painted the body color.
