What did you get done?

I spent another weekend watching my daughter play volleyball. This was a two day tournament that brought teams in from all over the southern region. The played in the 14 Open division, and placed third. Of course I think they should have done better, but I really enjoyed watching them work their way to a top three finish.

After they finished today I came home and spent a few hours pulling weeds, trimming shrubs, and planting fresh plants. I hit the yard with weed & feed, then started on some repairs and adjusting that needs to be done to the sprinkler system.

What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done?

Finished the flatbed, still have to stain it-Used cheap wood but got a good deal-50 bucks total- Found out i'm no carpenter and beer stains look good on pine,Got a new dash for free and a good lead on an 86 box with great bedsides-Some guy just stopped to see what i doing and offered me a free dash(wrong color but no cracks-what the hey,it's free)then said he had a whole truck for 200 bucks, but i scared him off on selling it when i asked about the title(something fishy)and we had to be REAL quiet when i went to look at it-but I made a deal for 75 bucks on the box-can't trace that-took the motor off the old 63 chrysler boat I have, getting ready for the water-Cleaned the yard, damn squirells and their nuts-Tried catching a skunk but i'll get to him next week-g'day

Re: What did you get done?

i had to pull the new 4*4 in the drive to replace the water pump and gaskets. while i was in there i decide to just pull the whole front accesory package fropm the block to "clean" everything and repaint it so it ooks good. when all was said and done i install a new dizzy with plugs and wires, fresh gloss black acc brackets, a set of tall black crinkle valve covers, aluminum water pump and new oem radiator.

it is still under heavy consideration as to keep the 1406 edelbrock or get a new avs carb as i allready would have to have the 1406 carb off for a rebuild.

Re: What did you get done?

The GF is in Vegas for spring break & I wasn't on call @ work so I actually got something accomplished:

* I swapped the pass door on my Beater including all the glass/hardware
* I got the base coat of POR15 on my 350
* I finished pulling the remainder of the front clip off my Beater for basic clean-up in anticipation of the new(er) motor/trans
* Cleaned up the firewall on the Beater

I thought about washing my 74 (it needs it baaaaaaaaaad) but it didn't happen. I still have a few hours to go so I should get a little more done on the smaller clean-up related stuff (I'm on dinner brak right now ).

I also need to decide on whether to paint the engine black or go w/some color. What do you guys think?

Re: What did you get done?

Saturday morning I spent clearing driveways, and spent some of the evening cutting wood, and then running a couple ground wires in the GMC.

Hopefully I'll be done the truck's entire electrical system, less the chip for the TPI, before this next friday

Once I get the chip, I gotta do a bit of work on my transfercase (drain the fluid, replace the shift rods, and replace the fluid), get a few u-joints, and put the cover back on my rear diff, then the truck should be able to start up and move itself If I get her running, you'll all be the first to know

Today I moved crap out of an abandoned apartment suite, so I'm sore and tired

Re: What did you get done?

I worked Friday till 12:15. Saturday I was up at 6 a.m. and in Nachitoches by 8 for academic rally. Home that afternoon with my cousin and sister. Then today (Sunday) I brought my cousin back to Nachitoches in my truck, visited with my family up there, and I hauled a futon and mattress home, hauling a$$, praying the spare tire didn't slide off of its precarious perch

Re: What did you get done?

not much really, helped a friend hook up a tach, put his cb antenna on my truck, not really much more, staurday night helped a fellow 80's chevy driver swap rear wheels, he had cragars on it, and somehow lost three lug-nuts he felt it shaking and pulled over, he only had 2 lugnuts on , jacked it up and the wheel just shook side to side, almost lost it, tryed to find lugnuts to put it back on but there wasn't any place open so we put 2 draglites on the back, draglites look much better than cragars in my opinion

Re: What did you get done?

I picked up my freshly bead blasted doors friday, with intentions on spraying them along with my fenders, and cab with epoxy primer but with it being almost freezing and raining where I'm at I didn't get that done! Last time I checked it was reffered to as "sunny california" I guess not. So hopefully it warms up so I can get some more done soon.

I did get to mess with the tach dash I picked up a while back, cleaned it, gave it the chrome paint treatment on the inside, I'll have more pics to come.

I have family in Nachitoches, or is it Coushatta? They recently moved from one to the other, but I can't remember which one to which one My sister lives in Logansport, but I think I mentioned that before...

Back on topic-I changed my second round of break-in oil on the new engine. I also replaced my air and fuel filters. It looks like I will be doing the power steering pump soon as well, but I want to get a new pulley that isn't bent.

Re: What did you get done?

I ordered a Gear Reduction starter last week and attempted to put it in. The wrecking yard sent me a FWD Diesel Gear reduction starter so no go.

I had to heft the heavy as heck direct drive back into place.

I did however put new top post style cables on and a new 800 CCA Battery in it and it fires right up beautifully.

I also swapped wheels and tires around.

Next week I swap the doors, and maybe get started on swapping bed parts.

Re: What did you get done?

Nothing at all. Went to a tractor pull Saturday, and more family came over to see the baby, Sunday, and back at work today.

Gotta love it, nothing but green. Crowd thinned at the DuQuoin, IL pull by 11:40 pm. I stayed till the last tractor pulled at 12:30 or so.

Re: What did you get done?

Cleaned up more brush in the backyard, cut down a huge dead limb and raked the last of the leaves, 9 damn bags.

I put in a new PCV on the Tahoe.

I also put in a new alt in the wifes Silverado(thank god for lifetime warranty parts), she was on her way back from Oklahoma and the sucker died while she was pulling in the driveway. I also had to have the battery charged, the alt drained it.

Nothing. I've got a couple sets of kick panels to build, but my resin isn't due in until today. I did get the Corvette out of storage and proceed to get it absolutely filthy on the wet, muddy roads. I replaced the hood struts on the Camaro.

I installed the tranny kickdown cable (Lokar) and still need to readjust. I drove to DFW for a customer, changed the oil, and filters. Oh yeah and worked

PAINT!

I purchased some LS motor mounts from Early Classic Saturday and played fruit basket turnover again in the garage. Now my nice shiney black frame that was once home to a Hilborn injected (in progress) 454/ Doug Nash 5 speed is now bare and awaiting the motor mounts for the 6.0L. The brown cab is now back off in preperation for routing the fuel lines.

My '73 project has swapped frames and direction some. Since I want to stay with the '73 front end, the 81-87 tilt was donated to the 6.0L truck. The frame I had was also donated since the horns were cut to fit the '81-87 frontend, and I wouldn't have to mock the '90's blazer tank back in and rebuild the suspension.

The rusted frame now has the '73 cab on it and plans are in the works for a lot more mods since I have a completly open slate, there will be more going on with this truck than before. This was moved to my oldest brothers shop on Sunday where we build the dropped crossmembers and other stuff.

Is your truck orange or red? It looks orange...if that is the case..I'd paint it Chevy Orange. For whatever reason, I am not a fan of black engines.
