My Beater: What Color for the 350
I'm getting closer to completing my 6/3spd to 350/350 swap. What do you guys think for engine color: Basic black or a splash of color?

Re: My Beater: What Color for the 350
Hmmmm... I like the look of black but often wind up working on my cars in less than ideal lighting conditions so I prefer something lighter. I am going through this same decision process right now for my '93 suburban. In your case I'd say go for a splash of color.

Re: My Beater: What Color for the 350
I'd say stay away from the fluroescent colors and bright ones. Those colors look like S**T once they're dirty on a work truck. To be different I did my last motor in the that cummins tan color. with black valve covers. I liked it and would use it again.

Re: My Beater: What Color for the 350
There's a lot of loyal black & Chevy-orange guys. I wasn't thinking black but after coating some parts w/the POR15, I'm reconsidering.
The truck is the med.-bronze color w/black bumpers, door panels, mirrors, & gauge cluster. The black would fit well but I know it's harder to determine the origin of leaks on a dark colored motor (that may be a good thing ).

Re: My Beater: What Color for the 350
if i was using a chevy engine it would be orange without a doubt but since i'm not because i don't have a big block i'll be using dark jade green metalic to match the body on my pontiac 400

Re: My Beater: What Color for the 350
Well...if it's just a beater it don't make all that much difference then does it? Gonna have any aluminum or chrome on it? GM engine blue looks good and will stand out from the dark inner fenders and core support but not be flashy. Or how about a Pontiac engine blue from the 70's? Or Olds engine gold. That might go well with the exterior color.

Re: My Beater: What Color for the 350
Med Bronze like the exterior of the truck would look nice, but then it won't be a beater for long, as you may find yourself "tricking out" the rest of the truck.
