home made bed cover pics plz!!

saw the thread for home made consoles. i was planning on doing a custom console along with a bed cover also. my dad did a great one on his el camino. i would like to see some other ideas before i try and mock his bed cover. i want to do a three piece solid cover. my dad did a one piece covered with marine style seat cover. i turned out extremely well. just wondering how many of you have tried this and would like to see the results. thanks.

Re: home made bed cover pics plz!!

It's too bad I don't have the pics anymore but I had a Co-worker that built a Nice one out of wood covered in vinyl for a Chevy S10 that could be adapted for a full size truck.

That 2 piece looks very good.

Hmmm... maybe I will make one of those for my 70. Since it will be black primer and the bed will be green and rust. Would be heavy since its a long bed. I will probly make it a two peice. What should I use for hindges on the front?

Re: home made bed cover pics plz!!

Mine weighs a total of 50 lbs., including everything.
I didnt use hinges. I added 2 tabs to the front of the back piece, that slip under the front piece. Ill see if I have a pic that shows that.
Than when you open the rear, it just rotates on the side rails. John
