E-Brake cables on a 70 C/10 short step - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Hello it’s been a long time since I last posted. I am starting to work on my 70 C/10 short step (again)

and need to find some reasonable E-Brake cables. Right now the only thing I have is the pedal and assembly inside the cab (no cables at all). If anyone knows where I could buy them at a reasonable price and/or has any pictures of how and where the cables should be ran through that would be great. Has anyone used inline tube?

Try an LMC catalog or maybe someone has used parts on here.

I have the same problem. The previous owner of my truck cut and pulled all e-brake stuff out. I now live in an area with lots of hills. I priced everything through LMC and they have some good pics of how it should all go together. I'm going to try local yards first to see if I can get a complete assembly (the PO even cut the cable that goes into the drums

)

Takes a little time but you can release them from the drums... Also that rear loop cable is like $20. Can be made if last resort.

i bought the 1st cable that goes from the pedal and it didn't fit right. the end is too spread out to use both, can't think.. tabs? not like original. also i can't get the thing tight enough. i screwed it in all the way and got it as far out of the sleeve as i could and it won't pull enough. found that out after rolling down the damn driveway into the street when all i wanted was the rear wheels out of the garage. luckily i moved the cars out of the driveway.

for the pics, the bottom one is stock, top is lmc's

Can't you bring them together with a pair of vise grips?

the metal's too thick, but luckily it's thick enough to feel safe using just one side of it.

clamp it to a I beam and smash the sucker with a BFH....

Thanks for the pics Mat. would you happen to have any other pics of the route the cables take from the engine to the back wheels? also have you put it in a table vise to close it a little?

im just gonna leave it. i rolled down the driveway again today, but i loosened the star wheels on the drums because the drums were stuck on, and i need to tighten those back up. tell me if you need more pics.
