Van tilt -- hazards

I may have seen this on here before but after a successful install of my van tilt in my 67, everything works but the hazard lights. When I push it in --nothing happens. I used the adapter plug from the flat to the half moon. What do I need to do or what should I check?

Re: Van tilt -- hazards

Dennis - I have not heard of this before. The obvious would be the flasher unit. The only other thing I can think of is a bad turnsignal. If the blinkers work left and right you can rule out the adapter.

Keep us posted - Bob

Thanks Bob, turn signals work OK---definitely may be the hazard flasher as I cannot ever remember trying it before the column change--- they must not check it at the yearly inspections.

Re: Van tilt -- hazards

Replaced the hazard flasher, checked the fuse and made sure power to both sides of fuse with ignition key off. Hazard flashers still do not work. I have power to the hazaed flasher unit all the time so the connection may not be made somewhere else when I push the flasher switch in. Both turn signals work ok with the key on. Am having trouble making out the wiring diagram on them. I do not think they worked before I switched to the tilt from the 67 oem.

Re: Van tilt -- hazards

I would set the old column in the truck on the floor, and plug it in. Try the 4 ways from the old column and if they work, you know you have a bum switch. Knowing the way they work... it's pretty much going to be a bum switch anyways.
