wtb: eaton third

looking for an eaton third with 4.10 and a locker. Busted my front axle, so I figured I would change from my 4.56 gears in the front to 4.10 and upgrade to disc brakes at the sametime....was hoping to upgrade my rear at the sametime (always nice to have matched front/rear gears).

Re: wtb: eaton third

Why don't you just hunt around for a Dana 60 with a locker? They would be a lot easier to come by, and parts would be, too. Just a suggestion.

Re: wtb: eaton third

I thought about hunting around for a 14 bolt ff or a dana 60, but I have always liked stuff that is a little different......I see you have a 3/4t 4x4 with a V6....com'on you gotta understand the beauty of different.

Re: wtb: eaton third

Yeah, I do like different stuff, too. But when it comes to parts availibility, different stuff can be a PITA. I'm going to chuck the Rockwell for an NP 205 because:
1. It won't stay in gear
2. Parts are expensive, if you can find them.

Hell if the 305 ever blows up, I'll just stuff a 350 in it. Unless, of course, if I can find another running V6 on the cheap.

TTT for ya

Re: wtb: eaton third

I loaded one in a milk crate, and then wrapped it up in cardboard with lots of tape. I used zip ties to secure the 3rd member in the crate. Cost me 50 bucks to ship it from here to Miami...came in at 115 pounds IIRC.
