2006 Silverado trailer light problem
I took delivery of a 2006 Silverado 2 months ago. It is a 1/2 ton with the trailering option. I pulled a car trailer last week with no problems. On Thursday I hooked up to the trailer and went and got gas, all of the lights were working fine. Friday night my park lights wouldn't work on the trailer. I have blinkers and stop lamps.
I do not have power for the park lights coming out of the plug on the pickup. The park lights on the pickup do work. Does anyone have any ideas? Is this covered under warranty? I would assume it is.

Re: 2006 Silverado trailer light problem
It may be fuses. On my '01 Tahoe all of the trailer light connections are fused in the panel under the hood. Look in your owner's manual to track them down and see if that is the cause.

Re: 2006 Silverado trailer light problem
I spoke with another board member today, and he gave me the same answer. I will take a look at it tomorrow.

Was it a fuse?

Yeppers, the funny thing is that when we were diagnosing it Friday night we talked about how you always check the simple things first. Of course I never would have guessed that there would be a seperate fuse for trailer park lamps.

Re: 2006 Silverado trailer light problem
Sorry to bring up old post, but i am having a problem with both a 99 silverado and a 2000 yukon. my 7 pin has no power for tail lights on either one. What do you think? Where did you find the fuse for the trailer park lights? do you mean the back up lights?

Re: 2006 Silverado trailer light problem
The fuse was under the hood on the drivers side. On the 2006 there is a large fuse box there. I had to dig through my owner's manual to find that one though. I had no idea there was a fuse specifically for the park lamps.
It was the park lights. At night cruising down the road I had no lights on the trailer. When I would hit the brakes or the blinkers those lights would work. I did get pulled over that night and the cop let me go but he told me I had to use my flashers the rest of the way home.

Re: 2006 Silverado trailer light problem
Thanks! Got it. Pulled both fuses, both were blown! Now trailer has lights with Yukon, but not truck. I have no taillights on truck either, so back to the drawing board. One problem solved. On to number 2! The truck fuse to the truck tail lights looked good, but I replaced it anyway, still no tail lights, hmmmm. Time to check bulbs I guess, but how could they both go out? I will update, thanks again

Re: 2006 Silverado trailer light problem
Got it, it was a fuse. there are like 15 fuses that say parking lamp according to the owners man. FYI, my instrument cluster was out also. when i finally found the fuse that was the culprit for the tail lights, it fixed the cluster as well, go figure! Thanks again guys
