Re: How did you do your frame?
Haven't done it yet but it will get smoothed, filled, and either epoxied or powdercoated. Depends on if it stays a driver or not.

Re: How did you do your frame?
1. Sanded with a sanding sponge.
2. Wiped down with Varsol. 3. One coat of Tremclad Grey Primer rolled, brushed and sprayed. 4. One coat of Tremclad Flat Black rolled, brushed and sprayed. I would have rolled it all on, but there were some hard to reach areas. The truck will be a summer daily driver.

Re: How did you do your frame?
Truck #1 power washed really good and brushed on 1 coat of rustoleum rusty meatal primer, folllowed by 6-8 cans of spray on rustolem semi gloss. Truck # 2 power washed and scraped off all of the under coat overspray and gave it 1 coat of Eastwoods rust encapusulator. Neither has be in service long enough for long term results, but I hope they both last a while.

Re: How did you do your frame?
Pressure washed the frame then sandblasted with 000 sand, washed with eastwood metal wash, brushed with eastwood oxysolv and wiped down with martin-senour pre-cleaner to remove any oily film then brush painted two coats of Masterseries permanent rust sealer (moisture curing urethane), scuff sanded with 320grit and 3M scotch brite wiped down again with pre-cleaner and finished with two coats of eastwood satin "chassis black" from a detail paint gun.

Re: How did you do your frame?
I'll be down to the frame this spring and looking at options. If I elect to take the frame to someone for sandblasting/cleaning and priming or powder coating. what can I expect to pay? (Ballpark estimate)

Re: How did you do your frame?
I think we paid $150 to blast and prime. I've heard higher and lower to blast. We sprayed the paint. I just got a local ballpark quote for powder coating it - $400 (too late for us anyway).

Re: How did you do your frame?
I rented a commercial compressor and blaster and done it myself....in hindsight, I could have hired it done for a little more$$ and not had the mess to clean up!!! Blasted, primed, and put on 4 coats of rustoleum...not on the road yet, so not sure on quality of job (I think I paid $125-150 to rent the blaster and compressor)

Re: How did you do your frame?
Used some of the wife's plastic spatulas (scrapers) to scrape off the crud,
then used the wife's giant box of SOS cleaning steel wool, rinse, used her dad's stash of naval jelly on the entire frame, rinse, used my dad's stash of Rustoleum Primer and Rustoleum Satin Black paint. Dano P.S. Bought the wife a new spatula set for Christmas. Paid her dad back with five shopping bags of avocados from my tree, and have been doing whatever work my dad wants me too do. It all seemed to work out fine.

Re: How did you do your frame?
If the truck has undercoating, aircraft stripper followed by pressure washer will get it off. My experience, the sandblaster would just heat it up and stick to it. After removing the undercoating, then sandblast. I then coated with 3m chassis paint. this stuff is great if you haven't painted much. It comes pre-thinned and ready to spray in 1 gallon cans. It sticks to anything; the spray gun, the painter, the shop, the floor, etc....

Re: How did you do your frame?
I paid to have my frame aluminum bead blasted, then I primed it with etching primer, and finished it with a couple of coats of automotive enamel.

Re: How did you do your frame?
Sandblasted, cleaned, Eastwood's Rust Encapsulator, Eastwood's Extreme Chassis Gloss Black. I rented a sandblaster/compressor to do all my suspension parts-ended up getting more pi$$ed off so took rest of parts to a local guy and did axle, coil springs, bumper brackers, a bunch of little parts for $100.00-best $100.00 I have spent. I will never sandblast again, it is much easier to take the parts to someone with the proper equipment. Oh, he said he would of done basically all the parts for a rolling chassis for about $200.00-He!! of a lot cheaper than renting.

Re: How did you do your frame?
I steamed mine first to get the grease and chunks off it.Then sandblasted, sprayed epoxy primer with a urethane top coat. One piece of advice I can offer is,make real sure that all necessary frame work/mods are finished before painting.I changed my mind on some things after the paint was done and will have to repaint some of it now.

Did you have to do any prep work before taking it to get blasted? How close is this guy to the Oklahoma border?
