66 Steering column

Does a 66 lower section of the steering column collapse like a 67? If so for 3 on the tree, can it be collapsed 1.5" and still have the shifting linkage work OK?

Re: 66 Steering column

My 64 has a 68-72 column in it. It seems to be straight bolt in. It's got the intermediate shaft and steering box too.
