Last week I installed this USA6 radio behind an modified factory AM radio plate, also a set of overdrive Blaupunkt speakers in the kick panel positions... Nothing was cut tweeters are mounted with heavy bailing wire to the screwhole on the A.C balls...

Where'd you get the kick panels? Are those the ones you can order with cheapo speakers (the ones most of us swap out)? Looks good!

Just hope those tweeters doen't rattle around too much.

Nice work! Do you have any problems with clearance between the speaker on the driver's side kick panel and the e-brake? Looks kind of tight.

The tweeters are really snug, just enough bailing wire to make a small loop for both the back of the tweeter and the vent screw. Real tight fit, sometimes the simplest ideas are the best ones.

The picture really doesn't do justice to the clearence between the speaker and the e-brake. Over one inch seperates the two. No issues there.

Radio cost $209.00 on ebay + shipping.

Fred where did you get the kickpanels? How much top mount depth do they have would you say?

I got the kick panels off of ebay, paid about $55 for them. They are the same ones that every other company is selling, I guess it's just a matter of price. The panels are set up for 5.25" speakers and most of them fit fine. I went with a set of shallow mount 6.5" speakers and they fit nicely. I had to cut the hole a bit larger but it worked out fine. I would say that the depth is just shy of 2". A compromise in speaker selection but it's still enough room to get the job done.
