Bed Wood Dimensions

Has anybody used the dimensions for cutting your own bed wood that are on the web, I believe from GMC pauls. If so are they accurate, or does anybody know of the exact dimensions for a short box. Its the width that im concerned about..Thanks

Re: Bed Wood Dimensions

I used GMC Paul's dimensions word-for-word. I put mine in a short box stepside. And it fit like a glove.
Here's the pix....

Re: Bed Wood Dimensions

I used them to make my wood (teak) from scratch. No problems and bed looks great!!!!

First picture, raw wood

Second picture, sides have been cut (grooves) and several coats of varnish.

Last shot, wood all done and in place!!

We use a slightly different dimension for bedwood and have sold thousands of sets using our method. http://www.mar-k.com/bedwood_dimensions.pdf It requires you to make measurements directly on your truck but you can be assured it will fit. If you made the groove a full 3/4" wide as others have suggested the wood rests tight against the bed strip bolts. We recommend a slight clearance between the bolts and the edge of the wood to protect the finish and allow for expansion.

Whatever dimensions you use, be sure to test fit before finishing. The last thing you want is for the finished wood to need slight trimming to fit right.
