Tranmission Cooler
Does anyone have pictures of transmission coolers installed. I'm in the process of swapping out my SM420 for a TH400 and have to mount one. I have a good idea of how to do it but was curious how others had.

Re: Tranmission Cooler
You can buy these plastic clips that look like spears. They attach the cooler to the front of the radiator. They use foam pads between the radiator and the cooler. The clips slide between the fins on the cooler and then through the fins on the radiator, and there's a plastic disk that slides on to the end of the clip to keep it in place. Hayden makes them, and you can buy them at places like Kragen. They aren't the most elegant solution, but they are effective and easy to install.

Re: Tranmission Cooler
Not a big fan of the Zip Tie method. I purchased a Long(Brand) Cooler that has a plate mount style. I am going to use aluminum square tube to make cross bars to mount it to. I will post some pics once its done.
Shipping the SM420 to Texas...I would not mind. Its still in the truck right now. I will have crate it up then weigh it for an acurate shipping cost. I'll let you know once i get it out and if you still want it we'll work something out. |

Re: Tranmission Cooler
I don't have any pics of the install, but I put mine in front of the radiator. I took the X off of the radiator support and fabbed new brackets to mount it to out of 1" square aluminum tube. There is a lot of room in there. I have a b&m cooler with it's own fan and it sits about 3/4" away from the front of the radiator. If this seems like a route that you might want to go, I could probably snap a few pics of it as it sits now, but it is kinda hidden behind the grill. I also am not really a fan of the "spear" type of mounting.
