SBC to Inliner........Motor mounts?

I know it is possible to swap a 250 for a SBC without any trouble, what about going the other way? My K20 had a SBC in it(Now has a 454 with a Custom set of mounts going off the OE's)..................Could I drop one of my hot 250's in it with no trouble? I know it will fit, but I seem to recall the overall location being different V8 vs the little 6 from the factory.

I am just going to use the 250 for a time until I get a 292 built up.............Then I'll run that until I get ready to drop a 4-53 or 4-71 Detroit in it

Re: SBC to Inliner........Motor mounts?

The v8's and the I6's do sit in a different location...the I6 engine mounts bolt into the back two holes on the frame where as the v8's engine mounts bolt in the front two holes...The swap back shouldnt be a problem depending on what tranny crossmembers you have. I am not sure if this all apply's the same on a 4x4 but I believe that it would.... If you decide to do this and need the I6 Engine towers, just Let me know.

All our trucks(Well, my C-20 did too until I inlined it with a "Brand X" engine ) have inliners, parts trucks included............Other than this one I just bought, so I have everything I need..............Just wanted to know about location because I don't have one handy to compare.

Thanks

Your 4 wd , will accept the 250 inline on the stock small block eng stands the if they are still in the truck. The 2wd trucks, did mount the SB 3 1/2 " foward of the Inline spot, & roughly 2 1/2" foward from the factory BB spot. Best of luck on the swap..... L

Don't blame me I had to have a Cummins in one.............Now I got one, and I want a Diesel in everyone I have because of it

But for the time being, a trusty dependable inliner will work
