tilt rebuild question
I've got a clean tilt column that has a lot of play in the tilting mechanism. I tried to get inside to tighten it up, but I'm stuck! I got the turn signal switch out and removed the small nut that holds the bearings in place on the main shaft. Now what??? I can't get the rest of it to come apart. I see a pin just under the indicator housing but can't get to it. Any help?? Thanks

Re: tilt rebuild question
Have you removed the upper housing? If not then you need to remove it. It will pull staight up. The trick is to find someway to pull it up. If you have removed it, then there is two pins on each side that have to be pulled out. They make a tool to pull them out. I do not know if you can get them out without that tool. There is also a spring that has to be removed. If you look at the top of the column under where the turn signal switch was, there is a square hole. Yake a large phillips screwdriver and push in on that and turn. It should come out. The spring is under that. You should be able to get the top off then. If you need more help, I could talk you through it over the phone.
