What good is this part for?

How hard is it to swap this part out? Am I going to regret this link posting to ebay and me getting the part ran up in price, probably, but I really have to know

It's not too tough to replace. While you are at it you should replace the bearings too. I assume you are replacing the van tilt shaft with this one. It wouldn't be worth the price to me, just to have a shorter shaft. When it comes down to it you will still have a van tilt. If it was a lot less I would consider it, but all that really matters is what is important to you.
