Its home PICS !!!

Finally got it home. I love it. Not real sure about the tail gate stripes...there a bit much..but there growin on me. so Ill wait & see.

a little scared now though. At the body shop yhey moved it around quit a bit...never allowing it to warm up (against what I suggested).
I checked the oil , looked really really thin. than I smelt it. GAS. I immediatlly dumped the oil. there was alot of gas. replace it with 4 quarts of 10-40 & a quart of Lucas oil treatment.

Hopefully it didnt hurt anything. its always smoked a little tiny bit once in awhile from the left bank, not enough that it would loose any between changes. Hopefully it didnt wash the rings out.
Itdoes look perty though. John

Re: Its home PICS !!!

i agree the tail gate stripes look a bit odd, considering there arent any stripes down the back of the cab or top of the cab and the ones on the front end in flames... but still a nice truck none the less...

Re: Its home PICS !!!

Prerunner...the idea was more of a mimic to the 70s Camaros & Chevelles...they had hood & deck lid stripes...none down the roof. We did that intentionally. We also did the stripes the same size as the hood intentionally. @ first I thought we shoulda made em a bit narrower, however, there growin on me now.
I love the flames on the hood...wouldnt have worked at all on the tailgate. Heres a better shot of the hood.

Rolf, yesthe rear end was rubbing on the old floor + the tail pipes are a tight fit, so I made some room. Thanks, John

Stepside, the colors look great together. Let's see more of an overhead shot of the hood. That is a great idea to have the stripes 'flame' out.

How long was it in the paint shop?

It looks good! The stripes on the tailgate might not have been so dramatic if the ended just a little sooner. Regardless it's a nice color combo...

Re: Its home PICS !!!

I totally agree about the stripes ending a bit sooner on the tailgate. Apparently me & the painter had a comunication gap. Imcertain we agreed that they would stop about the same distance as the hood. But....its done & I think Im ok with it. Otherwise Im very pleased over all, Thanks, I like the color combo myself. John

If they bother you then tell him so. If not then let it ride. Your the one that has to be satisfied...

Re: Its home PICS !!!

I think the Hood setup is totally awesome. I agree the tailgate stripes could have ended sooner but does still look rad. Excellent color combo choice.

Looks real good, stepside454.

The wood floor looks nice. It would have been cool to see the notch box inset into the bed floor.

Have fun cruisin' it...

Re: Its home PICS !!!

Thanks. That was my original goal was to inset the box..couldnt seem to make it work right.

I like the way the hoods stripes are ...just the way they are. It was sort of modeled after early 70s Chevelle Stripes. Im not really fond of em goining all the way down...but, like you said, thats just me. John

Looks awesome....!! Those tires fit right in there. Do you have any pics of the cut job you performed on the rear fenders? How much? Did you leave some edge & roll it or what?
