Ahhh yes....Spring time is here! What are your project plans?

It's been a long rainy winter and i am ready to begin working on the trucks again. My plans:

69 blazer:
- New shock -fronts done 4/01/06
- New Springs
-Change diff fluids
- Clean under truck and POR 15 frame/bed(under)

77 blazer
- fix leaking rear axle..14bolt leaks a bit at one wheel.
- begin body work to prep for Paint (end of Summer)
- Convert to Electric fuel pump....tired of pumping gas in mornings to start! I have electric in my 69 and it's amazing
- MAYBE change out from my Qjet to an edelbrock....depends if the qjet can deal with the electric fuel pump pressure at start up....sometimes they overflow

many other things to come!

Re: Ahhh yes....Spring time is here! What are your project plans?

Good luck with that.

Whenever I find a garage with a house in my new home here in NC I will get to working on the Blazer again. For now she sits at my folks house waiting for that day.

2006 Plans for the K5:

- Convert to power steering
- Replace windshield frame and windshield
- Floorpans, inner and outer rockers
- Rebuild trans and t-case
- Slip in a 290Hp GM crate engine

That should take all year to get done.

Re: Ahhh yes....Spring time is here! What are your project plans?

Starting today! My Jimmy is getting all my attention this year. The list is long, but will be worth it in the end.

- Floorpans, inner and outer rockers
- Rear floorbed repair
- New pass door & both door innerds
- Frame off, sandblasted & coated w/many new parts
- Engine rebuilt to 383 stroker w/MPFI
- NV4700/NP205 swap
- Body repaired as needed & preped for new paint

I think that should keep me busy this summer. I just hope I can squeeze work in so I can pay for it all! Good luck to all you guys on your projects & make sure you post pics of your work, I know I will.

Going to restore the rolling frame. Patch the floors, and prime it. Would love to find a 69-70 parts truck, but it aint going to happen around here. None to be had.

Re: Ahhh yes....Spring time is here! What are your project plans?

I plan to get my K5 running this year - still debating the engine. I bought the K5 from a guy who said it hadn't ran in I think 4 years, I'm pretty sure that was closer to 7 years. I finally got it fired up and it puked tons of oil - I'm pretty sure the rear main seal is trashed. I think I should pull the engine and get it rebuilt - the other option is to just replace the rear main seal and see if the engine is any good. Just not sure moneywise what to do.

I've got a 3/4 ton front axle to go in it. This gets me disk brakes up front. I have a 14bolt ff to go out back. I have a Detroit locker to slip in it before I install the axle.

Needs some time and $$$!

Re: Ahhh yes....Spring time is here! What are your project plans?

My Blazer is finally going to get the attention I've been meaning to give it for 5 years. I'm going to do a tub swap, repair the door bottoms, new fenders, TG, core support and hood. Also going to put in a 700R4 and swap the rubber onto the aluminum slots.

I plan on completing this by memorial weekend so I can enjoy it this summer too!

Look for posts/pics in the future on the progress.......

Paul

Re: Ahhh yes....Spring time is here! What are your project plans?

I hate to jinx myself this way, but...

'69 Blazer
Get carb adjusted (q-jet)
Drive the b@lls off of it!

'70 Jimmy
Finish drivers side floor pans, rocker boxes, etc. (passengers side done)
Get it running good
Pull the top off
Fix windshield frame (this looks like fun...)
start prepping for paint

Good luck everyone, I'll need it! Rg

Re: Ahhh yes....Spring time is here! What are your project plans?

Like many folks here I've been working on mine for several years. Over the past few weeks I've been accumulating parts to finish mine and finally start driving it. Here's the plans

Install rebuilt TH350,NP205, and driveshafts
Install Painless (I Hope) chassis wiring kit
Finish painting the glovebox door, ashtray, rear deflectors, plastic grill, rollbar, and swingaway.
Install glovebox bought from Kelsfine
find a way to install seats out of 2001 Chevy HD
buy a 3rd row seat out of a suburban and fab mounts to have it removable.
Fatmat
Carpet
make rear panels to hold speakers
Final tune-up
And Drive!!!
