My progress (or lack off) and a Q

So, I knew the cab had some rust, and somebody had done some extensive fiberglass and bondo work on it but damn, look at that cab corner!

That prompted me to make a change...I think I'm going to get back out of Hondas altogether so I can concentrate on the truck. I have sooo many truck parts I need to make use of! Problem is, the bed of the truck is full of Honda parts, lol:

Know anyone that needs any hipo Honda parts? :P

Anyway, on to my Q:

When re-doing the doors, my truck had the steel door panels. Of course, I want the nice vinyl ones. Do I just buy the complete panels for like $200 that most places sell, or do I just buy the vinyl piece? I didn't know if that covers the steel one, or if it's for a different type of panel...

If I'm reading this right, the vinyl ones you're talking about are for 72 only. You'll have to change the window regulators and door shafts to the longer ones also to fit the 72 panels. You'll also need to get the 72 style arm rests.

Al, I don't think so, mine were the same, just metal...here's the ones I want, they sell either the vinyl piece or the complete panel. Then you can also buy the metal panels, like I have already..

Re: My progress (or lack off) and a Q

Chris - I've got the answer to your question. Yes. Now you got something from all that. JK. I think you can go either way - complete panel including backing plate or just the covering. The answer depends on the condition of your metal panels and the size of your checkbook. If you can afford to I would recommend the complete setup and new armrest as well. Just my 2cents worth. I am real good at spending other peoples money and too tight to take my own advice.

Haha, same here Bob!! Maybe we're related. That's what I figured, it dawned on me after I put mine up for sale .. that maybe those vinyl things go over the steel panel... I only have one though, the drivers door came from some other year. Shame, because the door panels are about the only good thing that came on the truck besides the engine and posi!

Wow, somebody just offered me $2 for a brand new chrome alternator bracket (cost me $20), $2 for the door panel, and $6 for my upper control arms. Dang, maybe I should have jumped on that!
